17 people detained in Kırklareli on suspicion of bribery-facilitated marriages

Within the scope of an investigation launched in Kırklareli following suspicions that marriages were being performed illegally for foreign nationals at the municipal marriage office, 17 people have been detained to date. According to the information obtained, it is alleged that marriage procedures were carried out in violation of regulations and that bribes were accepted in return.
The operation, initiated under the instructions of the Kırklareli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, began with the detention of 12 individuals. As a result of subsequent efforts, the number of detainees increased with the apprehension of 5 more people.
Among those detained is marriage officer A.A., who was determined to have been on duty on Saturday, February 28. It was stated that 41 thousand Turkish liras, 900 dollars, and 100 euros were seized during a search of A.A.'s home. The investigation into the details of the incident is continuing in a multi-faceted manner.
