The 2025-2026 judicial year begins: İmamoğlu, CHP convention, and critical cases are at the top of the agenda

The 2025-2026 judicial year will begin on Monday, September 1, with an official ceremony. The day will start with a visit to Anıtkabir at 10:00 AM. Following this, at 2:00 PM, the opening ceremony to be held at the Court of Cassation's İsmail Rüştü Cirit Conference Hall will feature speeches by the President of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, Attorney R. Erinç Sağkan, and the President of the Court of Cassation, Ömer Kerkez. If AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attends, he is expected to deliver a speech. The day will conclude with a reception to be held in the evening at the Havuzlu Bahçe of the Court of Cassation Presidency.

CRITICAL CASES BEGIN

The new judicial year opens with an agenda of cases closely followed by both political figures and the public.

September 4: The trial of detained Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler will be heard.

September 8: The e-Signature gang, which has dominated Turkey's agenda, will appear before a judge for the first time at the Ankara Courthouse.

İMAMOĞLU CASES AND ERDOĞAN'S COMPENSATION CLAIM

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu will be tried due to his cancelled diploma and various files opened against him. Additionally, the compensation lawsuit filed by President Erdoğan against İmamoğlu will be heard in court on September 9.

CHP CONVENTION CASE ON SEPTEMBER 15

The final hearing of the convention case, which caused great controversy within the CHP, will be held in Ankara on September 15. Furthermore, CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik and his associates will appear before a judge on September 22 in the case opened regarding the events that took place at the Istanbul Provincial Congress and in front of the Çağlayan Courthouse.

DALTONS GANG BEFORE THE JUDICIARY IN NOVEMBER

The Daltons Gang case, which Turkey has been following closely for a long time, is also on the agenda for the new judicial year. The gang's hearing will be held at the Silivri Courthouse on November 22.
