9 suspects arrested in investigations into 52 forest fires

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made a statement regarding the judicial processes carried out in relation to the forest fires occurring in Turkey. Gürlek reported that 34 suspects have been identified within the scope of 52 forest fires that have been subject to judicial proceedings since June 1, 2026.
According to the statement made by Gürlek on his social media account, 9 of these suspects have been arrested, while judicial control measures have been applied to 14 suspects.
Stating that the causes of the fires and those responsible are being investigated under the coordination of the Offices of the Chief Public Prosecutor and relevant institutions, Gürlek noted that the process is being monitored by the Ministry of Justice Department of Natural Disasters and Accidents.
Minister Gürlek emphasized that no forest fire involving suspected criminal activity will be allowed to remain unsolved.
