Allegations of irregularities regarding construction permits at Menemen Municipality on the agenda

Nine CHP municipal council members have filed a criminal complaint against Menemen Municipality, alleging that irregularities were committed in construction permits issued between 2022 and 2025.

The petition claims that these permits were used to generate unfair profit and caused public loss.

The petition states: "We request the identification of those responsible and the initiation of a public prosecution regarding allegations that the municipality was caused financial loss through neglect of duty and abuse of office, causing damage to public institutions and organizations, transactions contrary to the Zoning Law, the Planned Areas Zoning Regulation and its annexes, unfair gain and enrichment, violations of the Turkish Commercial Code, unfair competition, and violations of the Tax Procedure Law and the Municipal Revenues Law, within the scope of zoning practices carried out in Menemen Municipality between 2022 and 2025."

DETAILS OF THE ALLEGATIONS

The petition alleges that legal fees were not collected from some contracting firms, while high fees were applied to others, stating that this situation led to public loss. Furthermore, it was emphasized that fundamental administrative responsibilities such as building inspection, protection of agricultural lands, and social security (SGK) clearance processes were violated, thereby damaging public safety and administrative order. It was also stated that economic competition was distorted and that unfair profit was generated by granting privileges to certain individuals and institutions.

The CHP members requested that a public prosecution be opened against those responsible as a result of the investigations to be conducted.
