Allegations of phone examination in the Gülistan Doku case: 'The gates of hell will open'

Ali Çimen, the lawyer for the Doku family, alleged that some data on Zeynel Abarakov's phone had been deleted and that Russian messages were not initially translated.

New allegations have emerged in the case of university student Gülistan Doku, who is believed to have been a victim of murder years after she went missing in Tunceli. Ali Çimen, the lawyer for the Doku family, shared a chronological account of the examination process regarding the mobile phone of Zeynel Abarakov, who is named as a suspect in the case, in a statement on his social media account.

Çimen stated that Abarakov's phone was seized on February 27, 2020, 58 days after Doku went missing. According to the lawyer, the examination report prepared by the Tunceli Police Department on March 10, 2020, was not served to the parties for a long time despite written requests and was uploaded to the UYAP system on June 17, 2020.

ALLEGATIONS REGARDING PHONE EXAMINATION

The family's lawyers objected to the first examination report on the grounds that it was not prepared in accordance with the procedure. Çimen alleged that the Russian correspondence the suspect had with individuals named “mama” and “aiada” was not translated in the initial stage.

Stating that after the file was sent to the General Directorate of Security for further examination, the Tunceli Police Department prepared a one-page report on April 27, 2021, Çimen expressed that this report evaluated the Russian content as “only books and no criminal elements were found.” According to lawyer Çimen's statement, a new examination conducted by the National Criminal Bureau (UKB) in 2024 revealed some details that were not reflected in previous reports. Çimen stated that the correspondence on the suspect's phone was re-evaluated in this examination.

The process regarding phone examinations in the case was shared chronologically by the Doku family's lawyer.

“THE GATES OF HELL WILL OPEN” MESSAGE

Çimen reported that the messages allegedly sent by Abarakov to the person named “Mama” included the following expressions: “If I come, they will blame me, and that is when the gates of hell will open.” The lawyer argued that the messages in question were not translated in the first report.

One of Çimen's most striking allegations concerned the period when the phone was in judicial custody. The lawyer said it was alleged that while Abarakov's mobile phone was being kept under state protection, the gallery and Instagram account were accessed, deletion operations were performed, and some data was destroyed.

In his statement, the Doku family's lawyer emphasized that questions regarding the process of collecting and protecting evidence must be answered. How the new examinations and allegations in the file will reflect on the judicial process is being monitored.
