At the center of gender test controversies: She has appealed to CAS
Algerian boxer Imane Khelif has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the gender test requirement imposed on her by the International Boxing Association.

Imane Khelif, who won a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, appealed to CAS on August 5 for the annulment of the federation's decision. In her application, she also requested temporary permission to participate in the World Championships to be held in Liverpool, but this request was rejected by the court. The date for the main hearing has not yet been set.
RETIREMENT CLAIMS AND KHELIF'S RESPONSE
Khelif's former manager, Nasser Yafsah, had claimed in a statement to the French press that the athlete had quit boxing. Khelif responded to these claims on social media, describing the statements as "lies and malicious."
GENDER TEST CONTROVERSIES
Khelif, who planned to participate in a tournament in the Netherlands in June, was unable to compete due to the gender test requirement introduced by the federation.
The federation stated that this decision was taken to ensure the safety of participants and fair competition. Khelif's name had also come to the fore with a leaked medical report in 2023. The report claimed that Khelif was biologically male, and for this reason, she was prevented from participating in the World Championships.
Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-Ting, who was in a similar situation, had also been banned in the same way. However, both athletes were granted the right to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics, and both won gold medals, fueling the controversies.
