Azerbaijani diplomats who filed criminal complaints against ICRYPEX CEO Gökalp İçer and Murat Şirinov withdraw their complaints

Azerbaijani diplomats Farrukh Jumayev, Hasanali Hasanov, and Jeyhun Shahverdiyev, who had gone to the prosecutor's office to file criminal complaints against the CEO of the cryptocurrency company ICRYPEX and Murat Şirinov, who was identified as being employed by the same firm under social security, on charges of fraud, have withdrawn their complaints after their grievances were reported by 12punto and other media outlets.

It was learned that the diplomats, who also dismissed the lawyers following the investigation immediately after the news was published, cited a 'diplomatic crisis' as the reason and indicated they were experiencing issues with the Presidency.

Despite the withdrawal of the complaint, the case at the Istanbul 10th High Criminal Court, filed under Case Number 2023/376, will continue to be heard as the crime falls under the scope of a public prosecution.

On December 18, ICRYPEX CEO Gökalp İçer and the other suspect, Murat Şirinov, will appear before the judge.

However, following the Azerbaijani complainants' withdrawal of their fraud complaints, it is anticipated that the judicial control measures and travel bans imposed on the suspects will be lifted, and the file will be sent to the conciliation bureau.

The fact that the Azerbaijani diplomats withdrew their complaints due to a diplomatic crisis has highlighted the absolute reality of the alleged crime and the complaint process.

ICRYPEX's lawyers and representatives handling press affairs drew the reaction of journalists for their attempts to have news reports removed from the media without any court order.

However, it was observed that the company's lawyer managed to have some of the news reports revealing that the Azerbaijani diplomats had filed criminal complaints removed by calling the websites where the news was published one by one and sending emails.

It was also learned that some citizens who claimed to have experienced grievances after the news on 12punto was published have also provided information regarding their own issues.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Three Azerbaijani diplomats, Farrukh Jumayev, Hasanali Hasanov, and Jeyhun Shahverdiyev, had filed criminal complaints against ICRYPEX cryptocurrency company CEO Gökalp İçer and Murat Şirinov, who was identified as being employed by his company under social security, alleging they were defrauded.

Following the criminal complaint, an investigation was launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and ICRYPEX owner Gökalp İçer began to be tried on fraud charges in the Istanbul 10th High Criminal Court under Case Number 2023/376, facing up to 7.5 years in prison.

It was learned that Farrukh Jumayev, Hasanali Hasanov, and Jeyhun Shahverdiyev, who are employed at the Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States, had filed their initial complaints at the beginning of 2023, and the indictment was prepared in October 2023.

A judicial control condition, including a travel ban, had been imposed on Gökalp İçer and Murat Şirinov, but İçer's lawyer, Özge Özkan, had called members of the press and claimed otherwise.

ICRYPEX CEO Gökalp İçer and Murat Şirinov will appear before the judge on December 18, 2023.
