The Capital Markets Board (SPK) has granted permission for an investigation into Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and her husband İlyas Kaya on charges of 'violating the Capital Markets Law No. 6362'.
The Kaya couple is expected to provide their statements at the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office today.
THEY HAD EARNED 2.2 BILLION IN 5 MONTHS
CHP Party Spokesperson Zeynel Emre had claimed in a press conference held on September 26 that Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and her husband İlyas Kaya had earned gains reaching into the billions from stocks they purchased on the stock market within 5 months.
Emre alleged that in the process that began in April and ended in September, Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya invested 163 million 359 thousand lira in Özata Denizcilik shares, withdrew 1 billion 344 million lira within 5 months, and disposed of the shares a few days before the fund scandal broke and operations began.
It was also alleged that Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and her husband İlyas Kaya invested 99 million 687 thousand lira and withdrew 826 million lira during the same period.
Making a statement regarding the matter, Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya did not deny the allegations and resigned from her position as AKP Deputy Chairperson.
