CHP's move regarding Özkan Yalım: Requested that correspondence be added to the file

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın made important statements regarding the latest allegations targeting his party and Chairman Özgür Özel during a press conference at the Parliament. While emphasizing that the WhatsApp messages circulating on social media regarding the wife of the Ardahan Göle Mayor were fabricated, Günaydın also made statements regarding other ongoing judicial processes.

REQUEST TO RECALL CORRESPONDENCE

Günaydın stated that they have filed an application to recall all correspondence between Özkan Yalım and Özgür Özel, including photos and other visuals, and to have them added to the investigation file in light of the allegations. "There is no inappropriate content in the messages as alleged; the accusations made have nothing to do with the truth. When the correspondence enters the file, the truth will emerge as clear as day," he said.

Regarding the alleged correspondence between CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and the wife of the Göle Mayor, which was brought to the agenda by some journalists broadcasting on YouTube, Günaydın noted the following:

"Our Ardahan Göle Mayor has resigned from his party and remained independent. It is alleged that during a period when he was independent, there was a correspondence between Özgür Özel, our chairman, and the mayor's wife, and that in that correspondence, the Chairman said to the mayor's wife, 'your husband is not a man.' So what is the truth? Look, I have the correspondence in my hand... I cannot show this due to the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK), but we have the WhatsApp message.

The mayor's wife sends a message, 'Dear Chairman, good evening. I am the wife of the Ardahan Göle Mayor. I wouldn't want to disturb you at this hour. I know you are very busy. I would like to speak with you privately when you are available. Thank you.' Upon this, the Chairman calls her. They have an extremely polite conversation and conclude the call.

Today, when these allegations emerged, the CHP Chairman sends her a message. '[Name] lady, this is too much now. Fear God. You sent me the message above. I called you with courtesy. We closed it with courtesy. Now I am reading a lie in the newspapers as if I sent you an ugly message about your husband. For God's sake, tell me, what did I do to deserve this?'

In response to the Chairman's message, the mayor's wife says in her message, 'Yesterday my husband called Levent Gültekin. It is truly very ugly. He said that there is no such thing and that the news is a very ugly slander. Mr. Levent also apologized. He said he would correct it today. Believe me, I am also sad.' Did you get your answer? Did you get your answer? Will there be no end to this lie, this baseness? Where are you making up these words from? It is seen that such a correspondence never happened."

ATTENTION DRAWN TO INVESTIGATION CONFIDENTIALITY

The CHP Group Deputy Chairman drew attention to the fact that some information was leaked despite the confidentiality order in the investigation file. He alleged that while Özkan Yalım's lawyers could not access the file, a press consultant working at the Ministry of Justice accessed this information and interfered with the statements.

Regarding this situation, Günaydın said, "The suspect's lawyer cannot access the investigation file. Criminal lawyers cannot access it. They shouldn't be able to anyway. If the file is confidential and there is a legal justification requiring the investigation to be confidential, that confidentiality is observed. How is it that a statement closed to the suspect's lawyer can be sent to the Ministry of Justice press consultant? I ask again. What is the name of this Ministry of Justice press consultant? Yakup Halit Bulut.

He takes this statement. He is not content with using the statement exactly as it is. He also makes additions and subtractions to the statement. He becomes the owner of such an excessive process, such excessive self-confidence, as if underlining them with red ink. Then he serves this to these places. The confidentiality of the investigation has been violated by the Ministry of Justice," he said.

Günaydın underlined that the ministry official mentioned in this process should be immediately dismissed from public office and an official investigation should be launched against him.

With this initiative by the CHP, it is expected that the correspondence will be officially examined and accurate information will be shared with the public as soon as possible.
