A new development has occurred in the drug investigation targeting celebrities that has become a hot topic in Istanbul. Pop music star Edis Görgülü, who was detained at the airport upon his return from abroad on February 27, tested positive for a prohibited substance in blood and hair samples analyzed at the Council of Forensic Medicine. Following the announcement of the test results, Edis shared his thoughts on the ongoing process in an official statement.

COCAINE DETECTED IN TEST RESULTS

Edis, whose name was mentioned as part of the drug investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was detained at the airport under the prosecutor's instructions. As part of the judicial control measures applied to him, the famous singer was released with a requirement to report for check-ins. The detection of cocaine in the tested samples has also affected the course of the investigation.

'I AM EXTREMELY SURPRISED'

Edis made the following statement regarding the test results and subsequent developments via his social media account:

''As soon as my name was mentioned in connection with such a matter, I returned from abroad in a short time and provided my sample because I was extremely confident in my life and my habits. I am extremely surprised by the result.

I believe that the Council of Forensic Medicine of the Republic of Turkey will not apply any special treatment to me in this matter. However, since I clearly know my own life and habits, I think there may be a mistake. Therefore, I will request that the tests be re-examined and repeated. I will also contribute to the process with comprehensive tests that I will have conducted at different and independent institutions, and I will share the results obtained with the relevant authorities.

My trust in the law is absolute.

I believe that instead of debating questions like 'why' and 'how' in the public eye, the most correct path is to present them before the court with the right evidence. I will follow the process through legal channels with this understanding. I will seek my rights. If the opposite were the case, I would openly admit it and take responsibility for it. I believe the truth will come out. I would like to thank everyone who has put effort into this process.''
