In the case opened over the alleged abuse of three children in Esenyurt, contradictions between reports and testimonies have sparked controversy. While the initial report from Başakşehir State Hospital contained findings of sexual assault, another examination conducted shortly after in the courthouse building stated there were “no findings.” The children's testimonies were also changed during the process.

Despite all these developments, the defendants were acquitted.

THE FIRST REPORT POINTED TO FINDINGS

The incident came to light in August 2024 with the complaint of the Egyptian father, Mohamed İbrahim Ramadan. The father alleged that his son had been abused by a Syrian man named Usame, who worked at a stationery store in Esenyurt. A lawsuit was filed against Usame, who was taken into custody.

The children's testimonies were taken at the Child Bureau Command. In the initial stage, the children identified the defendant and described what they experienced in detail. The Başakşehir State Hospital report, which was entered into the file, also identified findings of sexual assault and healed wounds on the eldest child's anus.

SECOND REPORT: “NO FINDINGS AT ALL”

However, a few days later, instead of being referred to a state hospital, the children were re-examined in a room under the courthouse. This time, the report stated, “there are no findings of sexual assault, their health status is good.” The contradiction between the two reports was not resolved.

TESTIMONIES WERE CHANGED

The most critical point reflected in the court was the change in the children's testimonies. The children, who had identified the defendants separately in the initial stage, backtracked in their subsequent testimonies. It was noted that no parent or relative was present with them during this process. The court based its decision on the second set of testimonies.

WITNESS STATEMENTS REMAINED CONTRADICTORY

The statements of the witnesses heard in the hearings also did not match. While some witnesses claimed that the children were not left alone, others said they did not see the incident. The children's father refuted the defense that the workplace had just opened with documents. The court did not take these documents into account.

ACQUITTAL DECISION AND COMPLAINT

At the end of the trial, first Usame, and then the Turkish workplace owner and the Syrian employee were acquitted. Following the decision, the father sent a petition to Ankara and filed a complaint against the judge and prosecutor handling the case.
