Decision to continue detention for Muhittin Böcek and his son

In the case heard as part of the investigation into the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, it was decided that Muhittin Böcek, who has been suspended from his position as mayor, and his son, Mustafa Gökhan Böcek, will remain in detention.

During the third hearing of the case, which is being held at the Antalya 6th High Criminal Court and involves 41 defendants, the detained defendants Muhittin Böcek and Mustafa Gökhan Böcek were present in the courtroom.

Making his defense during the hearing, Muhittin Böcek stated that he has been in detention for 15 months and that he has been struggling against "slander and fabrications" recently. Arguing that his rights have been violated, Böcek said, "I am entrusted to the state. Whatever we did, we did for the state and for justice. Justice will be served."

Requesting that his health condition be taken into account, Böcek stated, "I trust in justice. I request my release, taking my health condition into consideration. I have never done anything wrong in my life. I have not caused any public loss."

Mustafa Gökhan Böcek also stated that he has responded to the allegations against him from the very beginning and that he returned from abroad to surrender. Claiming that there is no longer any suspicion of evidence tampering or flight risk, he requested his release.

The court panel ruled for the continuation of the detention of both defendants. The hearing was adjourned to November 3.
