Detentions in 4th wave of IMM operations draw attention: They were operating the government's project!
It has emerged that executives of companies involved in the Eurasia Tunnel project were also among those detained in the operation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

In the fourth wave of the operation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), detention warrants were issued for 49 people.
Among these individuals are executives of the Yapı Merkezi company, which has been involved in major projects such as the Eurasia Tunnel.
It was stated that during the operations conducted in the morning hours, Yapı Merkezi Construction partners Mustafa Başar Arıoğlu, Erdem Arıoğlu, and Sami Özge Arıoğlu were also detained. The Arıoğlu family is known as the owners of the company that built and operates the Eurasia Tunnel.
Yapı Merkezi was founded in 1965 and has undertaken many large infrastructure projects in Turkey and abroad. The company has been involved in significant projects such as the Kirazlı-Halkalı Metro Line and the Tanzania Railway Project.
THEY UNDERTOOK THE OPERATION OF THE EURASIA TUNNEL
Eurasia Tunnel Operation Construction and Investment Inc. (ATAŞ) was established as a partnership between Yapı Merkezi and SK E&C and undertook the operation of the tunnel. The tunnel, whose operating period will continue until 2041, is expected to reach an economic contribution of 8.6 billion dollars. Additionally, between 2021 and 2023, 2.9 billion TL in guaranteed passage fees were paid from the public budget for the tunnel.
Yapı Merkezi rose to prominence during the AKP era and has won 36 public tenders since 2012. The total contract value of these tenders was recorded as 85 billion 74 million 556 thousand TL.
