Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma trial begins in Silivri

The trial regarding the cancellation of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's university diploma will be held tomorrow at Silivri Prison.

CHP's presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu is being tried on charges of "forgery of official documents" following the cancellation of his university diploma.

İmamoğlu, who was detained on March 19 and arrested on March 23, is being held at Marmara Prison in Silivri. A prison sentence of 8 years and 9 months is being requested for him.

The hearing, which was initially planned to be held in Çağlayan on September 11, has been postponed to September 12 and will take place at Silivri Prison. The hearing will begin at 11:00.

IMM defense lawyers issued a statement titled "It is İmamoğlu's turn to speak against the diploma usurpation" and invited all their colleagues to witness this important hearing.

The lawyers stated, "The hearing for the criminal case regarding the cancellation of Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma will be held in Silivri on Friday, September 12, at 11:00."
