Elon Musk files antitrust lawsuit against Apple and OpenAI

Elon Musk's artificial intelligence startup xAI has initiated legal proceedings against tech giants Apple and OpenAI, alleging that they have engaged in anti-competitive collaboration. Musk claims that these two companies are creating unfair competition in the market and hindering innovation in the field of artificial intelligence.

According to Musk's allegations, Apple has formed a monopoly in the AI chatbot market by collaborating with OpenAI to maintain its dominance in the smartphone market. Specifically, Apple's collaboration with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into its systems is at the center of these claims. Furthermore, it is alleged that the AI chatbot Grok, developed by xAI, has been sidelined in Apple's app store due to special agreements made with OpenAI.

Apple officials, meanwhile, have defended the App Store as a neutral and fair platform, arguing that applications are presented in accordance with objective criteria determined by experts.

This lawsuit is seen as part of the long-standing disputes between Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Musk had previously made attempts to prevent OpenAI from transforming into a for-profit structure and had offered 97.4 billion dollars to acquire the company. However, this offer was rejected.

In statements made on his X platform, Musk had claimed that it was impossible for AI companies other than OpenAI to reach the number one spot on the App Store. The collaboration between Apple and OpenAI was announced in June, and the results of this partnership are expected to reach users in December.
