Illegal abortion operation in Denizli
Police teams are continuing their investigation into an incident in Denizli that led to the detention of several individuals following an illegal abortion operation.

Teams from the Denizli Public Security Branch Directorate took action following allegations that an obstetrician and gynecologist in the province was performing abortions on pregnancies exceeding the legal limit of 10 weeks.
Security units placed the doctor's office under surveillance as part of an investigation coordinated by the Denizli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
During a raid conducted recently on the office located on Doktorlar Street, Obstetrician and Gynecologist Dr. Mehmet İ. (55), his wife Alara İ. (47), medical secretary Seher Z. (46), and a woman who had undergone the procedure were taken into custody. During the searches conducted during the operation, a fetus determined to be over 10 weeks old, which had been removed illegally, was found inside a bag. This fetus was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute for examination.
As the investigation deepened, another doctor who directed pregnant women to the clinic, as well as 3 individuals acting as intermediaries, were also apprehended. Thus, the number of detainees rose to eight.
Authorities stated that there are also allegations that approximately 20 women who became pregnant out of wedlock, as well as children under the age of 16, were subjected to illegal abortion procedures or forced to miscarry using prohibited drugs. Furthermore, it was alleged that approximately 600 thousand liras were demanded for the abortion procedures.
Five of the eight people detained in connection with the incident were released following their statements upon the instructions of the prosecutor's office. Dr. Mehmet İ., his wife Alara İ., and medical secretary Seher Z. were referred to the courthouse.
