The investigation into the stabbing death of 18-year-old Utku Konak, the Provincial Youth Branch President of the New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah Partisi) in Giresun, has been completed. The indictment prepared by the Giresun Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has been sent to the court.

The indictment states that the incident occurred on April 28, 2026, in front of the Elmalı Market in the Aksu neighborhood. It was noted that Konak, who was seriously injured, passed away on April 30, 2026, at the hospital where he was taken.

N.C.T., H.T., and A.T. were named as suspects in the file. The prosecution has requested a life sentence for N.C.T., who is accused of stabbing Utku Konak, for the crime of "intentional killing" under Article 81/1 of the Turkish Penal Code.

The indictment prepared regarding the death of Utku Konak has been sent to the court.

CHARGES IN THE INDICTMENT

A prison sentence of 6 months to 1 year and a judicial fine were also requested for N.C.T. under Law No. 6136 for carrying a prohibited knife. The indictment stated that criminal analysis determined the knife was a prohibited type known as a "switchblade."

The prosecution assessed that N.C.T. arrived at the scene with a knife following a fight that took place before the incident, and that he carried out the stabbing while Konak was not making any attack against him. It was also requested that N.C.T. be punished for acts of insult directed at Konak's friends, B.P. and A.Y.

In the indictment, the charge of "aiding in intentional killing" was directed at H.T. It was alleged that H.T. prevented assistance by pointing a gun at people who arrived at the scene after Konak was stabbed; this action allegedly delayed Konak's transport to the hospital and facilitated his death.

“Scatter, damn it, I’ll shoot you. This kid is going to die here.”

— Words attributed to H.T. in the indictment

The prosecution stated that this claim is supported by camera footage and witness statements. While a prison sentence of 10 to 15 years was requested for H.T. for the crime of aiding in intentional killing, punishment was also requested for crimes of threat with a weapon.

Utku Konak passed away on April 30, 2026, at the hospital where he was taken.

For the third suspect in the file, A.T., a prison sentence of 2 to 5 years was requested for the crime of threatening Konak with more than one person. It was reported that the prosecution did not find A.T.'s defense that he arrived at the scene by coincidence credible, and that it was assessed that H.T. called A.T. on the phone shortly before the incident and that A.T. was summoned to the scene according to HTS records.

FORENSIC MEDICINE REPORT IN THE FILE

According to the Forensic Medicine report included in the indictment, one sharp-force injury was detected on Konak's body. The report stated that the wound was lethal on its own; death occurred as a result of external bleeding due to damage to major vessels in the femoral artery and veins.

Evidence cited includes camera footage, witness statements, crime scene investigation and criminal reports, HTS records, phone images, complainant and suspect statements, and criminal records. It was also noted in the indictment that N.C.T. is currently in custody.

In the indictment prepared by Public Prosecutor Alperen Mortepe on August 7, 2026, it was requested that the three suspects be punished separately within the scope of the referral articles. The case is expected to be heard at the Giresun 3rd High Criminal Court.
