Man who killed his wife executed in public in Iran

In Iran's Semnan province, a man determined to have strangled his wife to death in 2020 was executed following the completion of the judicial process. Mohammad Sadegh Akbari, the Chief Justice of Semnan, announced that the execution was carried out in accordance with the request of the victim's relatives and after all legal procedures were finalized.
Akbari stated, "The qisas (retribution) sentence given to a man found guilty of intentionally murdering his wife by strangulation was carried out this morning in the city of Semnan in public, upon the request of the victim's relatives and after all legal processes were completed."
The incident was uncovered as a result of investigations conducted by expert teams following a report from a health center. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the man had intentionally killed his wife. Iranian state television shared the details of the execution with the public.
