Message on election security from Istanbul Bar Association President Atty. Filiz Saraç

Istanbul Bar Association President Atty. Filiz Saraç has released a message regarding the March 31 local elections and election security. Saraç issued a call to the lawyers and citizens who will be on duty during the election.

President Filiz Saraç invited lawyers and citizens to contribute to election security in a video she released.

In her message, Saraç stated the following:

As you know, the right to vote and be elected is a fundamental human right regulated under Article 67 of our Constitution. To ensure the security of this right and that the democratic will is reflected in the ballot box in a healthy manner, a great responsibility falls upon us as the Istanbul Bar Association for the local administration elections to be held on Sunday, March 31, 2024. As in past elections, our Bar Association has created a list of volunteers from among its members to provide legal support in schools for the March 31, 2024 local administration elections, has provided training, and is assigning volunteer member lawyers to provide legal support in schools. A commission has been formed on this matter, a booklet has been prepared, and our informative videos have been released. Live support will be provided to all our colleagues on duty on election day. We invite you to contribute to the struggle for democracy by taking part in the election to ensure that the election is completed in a healthy manner and that the right to vote is reflected in the ballot box in the most accurate way.
