Number of detainees in Leman investigation rises to 5
Leman Magazine Managing Editor Aslan Özdemir, who was detained upon returning from abroad as part of an investigation into allegations regarding a caricature of Prophet Muhammad, has been arrested by the court to which he was referred. The number of detainees in the investigation has risen to five.

A new development has occurred in the investigation launched following allegations that religious values were insulted by caricaturing Prophet Muhammad in a cartoon published in Leman magazine.
Managing Editor Aslan Özdemir was arrested by the duty magistrate judge after being detained at Istanbul Airport. With this, the number of people arrested as part of the investigation has risen to five.
NUMBER OF DETAINEES REACHES 5
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched an investigation into the cartoon featured in the June 26, 2025 issue of Leman magazine on charges of "publicly insulting religious values."
Within the scope of the investigation, Operations Manager Ali Yavuz, Graphic Designer Cebrail Okcu, Cartoonist Doğan Pehlevan, and Managing Editor Zafer Aknar had previously been detained and arrested by the duty magistrate judge.
