Number of detentions rises in Yahşihan Municipality operation

The number of detentions in the corruption investigation conducted into the Yahşihan Municipality in Kırıkkale has risen to 33. Within the scope of the investigation, proceedings are being carried out against suspects including former AKP mayor Ahmet Sungur and former MHP mayor Osman Türkyılmaz.

As part of the investigation conducted by the Kırıkkale Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 2 of the 3 suspects who had previously been issued detention warrants but could not be found at their addresses have been apprehended. Additionally, detention warrants were issued for 2 more individuals.

It was reported that teams are continuing their efforts to apprehend the 3 suspects who have not yet been found at their addresses. The processing of the 33 individuals in custody continues at the gendarmerie.

Within the scope of the investigation, detention warrants were issued yesterday for 35 suspects, including deputy mayors, municipal council members, municipal employees, and business people.

The suspects are facing charges of "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes," "being a member of an organization established for the purpose of committing crimes," "bribery," "extortion," "rigging tenders," and "fraud to the detriment of public institutions and organizations." In the initial phase, 31 people were taken into custody during simultaneous operations conducted in 4 provinces, and it was determined that one of the suspects was already in a penal institution.
