Obscenity investigation launched against Bennu Gerede over YouTube program remarks

The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an ex officio investigation into photographer Bennu Gerede due to her remarks on a YouTube program she attended.

It was reported that the investigation is being conducted under the crime of "obscenity" as regulated in Article 226 of the Turkish Penal Code.

The grounds for the investigation were cited as Gerede's remarks regarding a necklace she wore around her neck during the program, which she described as a "portable vibrator."

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that the investigation into the matter is ongoing. No information has been shared yet regarding whether Gerede will be summoned to provide a statement as part of the investigation process.
