In an operation carried out in Manisa this morning, Cemil Yüzer and Anıl Demir, members of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's close team, were detained as part of an investigation launched by the Manisa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. While no details have been provided regarding the judicial process, the existence of a confidentiality order on the case is being highlighted.
It is known that Yüzer and Demir have long been present alongside Özel during CHP programs in Manisa, performing various duties, primarily as drivers and advisors. It is reported that the repercussions of the operation within the party are growing.
According to a report by Cumhuriyet, these detentions have been linked in some circles to the publicly reported statements of former Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım, who is currently in custody. Records indicate that Yalım claimed in his defense that "he requested the VIP conversion of a Mercedes V300 vehicle allocated for the personal use of our Chairman Özgür Özel to be carried out by the Uşak Municipality, and that this was the Chairman's personal instruction."
This reference continues to be a subject of debate, combined with allegations that a section of a conversation between two drivers was removed from the text in documents shared by the Ministry of Justice.
'THEY ALSO THREW MY BROTHER DEMİRHAN, WHOM I WOULD LEAN ON, INSIDE'
In May, Demirhan Gözaçan, an advisor to the Manisa Metropolitan Mayor, was arrested as part of a corruption and bribery investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the Uşak Municipality. Özgür Özel expressed this situation at a rally in Manisa on May 26 as follows:
"In these difficult days, my Ferdi (the late former MBB Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek), whom I would lean on, is not by my side; they also threw my brother Demirhan, whom I would lean on with my other arm, inside, they locked him up. They threw him in with a slander."
