President of the Court of Cassation still not elected in 14th round
No candidate was able to secure an absolute majority in the 14th round of the presidential elections held due to the expiration of the 4-year term of Court of Cassation President Mehmet Akarca.

The Court of Cassation could not elect its new president in the 14th round either.
As a result of the voting, 3rd Civil Chamber President Ömer Kerkez received 111 votes, while 3rd Criminal Chamber President Muhsin Şentürk received 112 votes.
Mehmet Akarca was elected to the presidency of the Court of Cassation on March 24, 2020, and his 4-year term expired as of March 24.
In this context, members of the Court of Cassation went to the polls on Monday, March 25, to determine the new president of the High Court, who will serve for 4 years.
After no candidate was able to receive at least 175 votes, which is the absolute majority of the 348 Court of Cassation members, in the first 13 rounds of the election, the 14th round of voting with two candidates was held today.
As a result of the voting, 3rd Civil Chamber President Ömer Kerkez received 111 votes, and 3rd Criminal Chamber President Muhsin Şentürk received 112 votes. While participation in the election was recorded as 322, 22 blank votes were cast, and 77 votes were declared invalid.
Due to the failure to achieve an absolute majority, the election continues with the 15th round of voting.
An absolute majority of the total number of members must be present in the elections.
