Release decisions in the 'City Consensus' case

Seven CHP municipal officials held in the 'City Consensus' case were released during the third hearing. However, the detention of Elif Gül and Turabi Şen continues.

The third hearing for 10 CHP municipal officials being tried as part of the 'City Consensus' investigation was held today at the Istanbul 23rd High Criminal Court. Before the hearing, families and various political representatives held a press statement in front of the Çağlayan Courthouse.

RELEASE DECISION

Beyoğlu Municipality Mayoral Advisor İkbal Polat had been released during the previous hearing on September 19. In today's hearing, Kartal Deputy Mayor Cemalettin Yüksel, Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Livan Gür, Üsküdar Municipal Council Member Bülent Kaygun, Fatih Municipal Council Member Güzin Alpaslan, Tuzla Municipal Council Member Hasan Özdemir, Adalar Municipal Council Member Nesimi Aday, and Şişli Municipal Council Member Sinan Gökçe were released. However, the detention of Sancaktepe Municipal Council Member Elif Gül and Beyoğlu Municipal Council Member Turabi Şen continues.

SECURITY MEASURES AND HEARING DETAILS

Extensive security measures were taken at the courthouse, and only lawyers, members of the press, and citizens with hearings were allowed to enter the building. The hearing began 1.5 hours after the scheduled time with identity checks. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan and Üsküdar Mayor Sinem Dedetaş were also among those observing the hearing.

The defendants are being tried on charges of "membership in a terrorist organization," facing prison sentences ranging from 7.5 to 15 years.
