Lawyers for talent manager Ayşe Barım, who is currently imprisoned on allegations of directing artists in connection with the Gezi Park protests, have filed a request for her release, stating that her health condition makes it impossible for her to remain in prison.
The lawyers stated that Barım is 56 years old and faces a risk of death due to serious health problems.
Barım's lawyers noted that their client was found unconscious in her cell on the morning of June 5 and was taken to the infirmary by prison officers.
It was emphasized that Barım has been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and that open-heart surgery had been planned, but could not be performed due to her incarceration. According to cardiologist reports, it was stated that Barım's risks of sudden death and ischemic stroke must be closely monitored.
HEALTH REPORTS CONFIRM THE DANGER
In a report by the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital, it was unanimously accepted that Barım carries a risk of sudden cardiac death due to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The fact that Barım frequently faints indicates that the disease is progressing and the risk is increasing.
It was stated that a 7 mm aneurysm was found in Barım's brain, which increases the risk of a brain hemorrhage. According to a report from Silivri State Hospital, the aneurysm has expanded and requires close monitoring. Barım's fainting spells are also considered a symptom of this condition.
OTHER HEALTH ISSUES
Barım also suffers from diabetes, a history of pneumonia, lung nodules, sleep apnea, and rheumatological disorders. These health issues indicate that her continued imprisonment is dangerous.
The lawyers stated that Barım's incarceration has further worsened her health condition and that she has been transferred to the hospital multiple times.
