Scandal in Bartın: 33 people abused a 13-year-old child

In an investigation launched into allegations of sexual abuse involving a large number of people against a 13-year-old girl in the Amasra district of Bartın, 33 suspects have been arrested, while judicial control measures have been applied to 3 others.

Allegations of sexual abuse against a girl born in 2013 living in the Amasra district of Bartın were reported to security forces on April 18, 2026. Following the emergence of the incident, the Bartın Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched a swift and comprehensive investigation. In the statement issued, it was determined that the victimized child had established contact with dozens of people via social media and was abused through these channels.

With the investigation file reaching the courthouse on April 28, coordination between relevant institutions was increased, and evidence collection and protective measures were implemented. Digital evidence obtained within the scope of the investigation revealed that the incident may have begun in a virtual environment. As a result of the findings, an indictment was prepared on May 8 against a total of 36 suspects, 10 of whom are in the status of children driven to crime due to their age.

3 SUSPECTS RELEASED

With the acceptance of the prepared indictment by the Bartın 2nd High Criminal Court, the trial process officially began. Currently, a total of 33 suspects, 9 of whom are children and 24 of whom are adults, are being tried while in custody. Judicial control conditions are being applied to the other 3 individuals.

In the statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated, "The process is being monitored meticulously to ensure the protection of the victim and that the perpetrators are punished in the most severe manner before the law. Refraining from any sharing that could lead to the disclosure of the victim's identity is of great importance for the best interests of the child."
