Second hearing in the Ayşe Tokyaz case to be held today

In the horrific incident that occurred on July 11, 2025, those responsible for the death of university student Ayşe Tokyaz (22) will appear before the judge for the second time today. While an aggravated life sentence is being sought in the indictment for Cemil Koç (38), a former police officer who is being tried as the prime suspect, 7 other individuals accused of assisting him are also facing demands for prison sentences ranging from 15 to 20 years.

The case will continue to be heard at the Küçükçekmece 2nd High Criminal Court. The indictment also requests that Cemil Koç be punished for the crimes of "depriving a person of their liberty through force, threat, or deception" and "blackmail," in addition to the charge of "premeditated murder of a woman with monstrous intent and torture."

For defendant Oğuz Kal, who is among the accused, both an aggravated life sentence and a total of 3 to 12 years in prison for various other crimes are being sought on the grounds that he participated in the crime committed by Koç.

The trial of the 7 people arrested following the incident had caused a shockwave, and the manner in which the crime was committed drew significant public outcry. The defendants and their lawyers are expected to present their defenses in court today.
