The investigation has been expanded following the capture of FETÖ convict and dismissed captain Burkay Karatepe, who was identified as a member of the assassination team that attacked the hotel where President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was staying during the July 15, 2016, coup attempt.
As part of the investigation, proceedings have been initiated against his sister, Ayşe Alanur Karatepe, who is alleged to have maintained contact with Karatepe through organizational methods, provided him with financial support, and helped him hide for a long time.
In the investigation conducted by the Muğla Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, teams acting on the instructions of Chief Public Prosecutor Necati Kayaközü detained Ayşe Alanur Karatepe in an operation in the Menteşe district, after it was determined that she had come to Muğla upon learning that her brother had been captured.
Simultaneous searches were conducted in the hotel room where the suspect was staying, the vehicle she was using, and her residence in Eskişehir. Digital materials seized during the searches were confiscated for examination.
According to the allegations in the file, it is assessed that Ayşe Alanur Karatepe maintained contact with her brother through organizational communication methods and engaged in activities aimed at providing food, meeting his health needs, offering financial support, planning his escape abroad, relaying information to his family, and assisting in his concealment.
