Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's passing was commemorated at 9:05 AM at Silivri Prison by Vera, whose mother, Meriç Demir Kahraman, shared a photo of the moment and expressed her reaction to the injustice being experienced.
Meriç Demir Kahraman reacted to her husband Tayfun Kahraman's imprisonment with the following message:
"Good morning Turkey! My daughter Vera and I are on our way to Silivri Prison, where Tayfun Kahraman is being unlawfully held captive, for our 26th open visit. Today, our Vera will not be in her school garden with flowers in her hands and her friends, next to the bust of our Ata that she sees every day; instead, she will observe a moment of silence for our Ata in the first minutes of her one-hour visit with her father at Silivri Prison, where we cannot even bring a daisy. On this November 10, as we commemorate our Ata, this is the watch that will be kept against these injustices in the 100th year of our Republic, which is his legacy!"
