The judiciary has gone on recess
The judicial recess, which signifies the collective leave period for the judiciary, has begun as of today. The new judicial year will commence on September 2.

During this period, duty courts will handle cases involving detainees and those of an urgent nature. Other cases will be paused until the new judicial year.
Duty panels will serve in the high judicial bodies, the Council of State (Danıştay) and the Court of Cassation (Yargıtay).
The duty panel serving at the Council of State will not be able to issue rulings on the merits and will only be able to decide on requests for a "stay of execution."
At the Court of Cassation, two duty chambers, one for criminal and one for civil matters, will serve. The duty criminal chamber will handle files concerning detained defendants.
The judicial recess begins on July 20 and ends on August 31 each year, in accordance with Article 102 of the Code of Civil Procedure, Article 331 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, Article 86 of the Council of State Law, and Article 61 of the Administrative Procedure Law.
The new judicial year will begin with a ceremony to be held at the Court of Cassation on September 2, as September 1 falls on a Sunday.
The Constitutional Court, however, is not covered by the judicial recess.
TRIALS WILL CONTINUE IN SEPTEMBER
Following the start of the new judicial year, trials considered significant by the public will continue in the capital.
In this context, the hearing for the Ayhan Bora Kaplan criminal organization case will be held on September 9, and the trial regarding the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation President and Hacettepe University faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sinan Ateş will be held on September 30.
Kemalettin Özdemir, who is facing trial for "establishing or managing an armed terrorist organization" on allegations of being the "covert police imam" of FETÖ, will also appear before the judge on September 11.
Furthermore, the trial of 4 defendants, including former Ankaragücü Club President Faruk Koca, who attacked referee Halil Umut Meler at the end of the MKE Ankaragücü-Çaykur Rizespor match, will continue on October 2.
