Verdict in UYAP case: Court clerk Ahmet Yılmaz sentenced to 27 years and 2 months in prison, released under judicial control

The verdict has been announced for court clerk Ahmet Yılmaz, who was on trial for allegedly performing unauthorized operations in investigation files by using the UYAP passwords of certain prosecutors at the Ankara Courthouse. The Ankara 28th High Criminal Court sentenced Yılmaz to a total of 27 years and 2 months in prison for various crimes.

The court also decided to release Yılmaz under judicial control, specifically with a travel ban. Yılmaz was acquitted of the charge of "violation of privacy."

The case had come to light following an investigation initiated upon the report of Yılmaz's ex-wife, Zeliha E. In the report, it was alleged that Yılmaz had lifted precautionary measures and issued non-prosecution decisions in certain files in exchange for money.

The prepared indictment alleged that Yılmaz used the UYAP passwords of the assigned prosecutors to perform unauthorized operations in the system, changed the flow of files without a prosecutor, and carried out decisions regarding non-prosecution, as well as merging, separating, and lifting arrest warrants. Yılmaz had faced up to 1,190 years and 5 months in prison for numerous crimes.

Final statements were taken at the hearing

Detained defendant Ahmet Yılmaz, some defendants who were not in custody, and the lawyers of the parties attended the final hearing. The presiding judge stated that the defenses against the opinion on the merits had been taken in the previous session and asked the defendants for their final words.

The court panel sentenced Yılmaz for the crimes of "membership in an armed terrorist organization," "bribery," "forgery of official documents," "destruction, concealment, or alteration of evidence of a crime," "aiding and abetting a criminal," and "unauthorized access to an information system."

Reşat Yıldırım, one of the defendants not in custody, was sentenced to a total of 18 years and 1 month in prison for the crimes of "membership in an armed terrorist organization," "bribery," "forgery of official documents," "destruction, concealment, or alteration of evidence of a crime," and "aiding and abetting a criminal." Yıldırım was acquitted of the charge of "violation of privacy."

Defendant Ömer Faruk Bol was sentenced to 12 years and 11 months in prison for the crimes of "membership in an armed organization" and "bribery." Yusuf Ersin Gürbüz was sentenced to 3 years and 4 months in prison for the crime of "bribery." The file of one defendant was separated.
