Yılmaz Tunç announces: New requirement for law school admission!

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç has shared an important change regarding admission requirements for law schools with the public.

According to the 2025 Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) preference guide, while the quotas for law schools have been reduced, the success ranking threshold has also been raised. Under the new regulation, only candidates who rank within the top 100,000 will now be accepted into these faculties.

In a statement made via the social media platform X, Tunç used the following expressions:

"A strong justice system is possible with qualified and expert legal professionals.

According to the guide published by ÖSYM for the 2025 YKS preference process, the quotas for law schools have been reduced and the success ranking threshold has been raised to the top 100,000.

This step is an important part of our vision for higher quality legal education.

In line with this goal, which we also included in the Judicial Reform Strategy Document—the first strategy document of the Century of Turkey prepared by the Ministry of Justice—only candidates who rank within the top 100,000 in the success ranking will now be accepted into law schools.

We believe that our judges and prosecutors who make decisions on behalf of the nation, and our lawyers who are the representatives of the defense, being trained with stronger equipment will also reinforce the trust in our justice system.
