1,080 queen bee breeding hives distributed to 52 producers in Iğdır

As part of an initiative launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to develop beekeeping, a development project was implemented for farmers actively engaged in beekeeping in the city, featuring a 50 percent grant and 50 percent repayment structure.

The hives developed for 52 farmers in the city were handed over to their owners at a ceremony attended by Iğdır Governor Ercan Turan and Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Ahmet Tingiş.

Of the total project cost of 594 thousand liras, 297 thousand was covered by the Iğdır Provincial Special Administration, while the remaining portion will be paid by the beekeepers.

Governor Ercan Turan stated that Iğdır, which has great potential in terms of agriculture, should be a pioneer in this field.

Turan said, "We have always maintained that Iğdır will be a leading province in tourism and trade, and this is our strategic vision. We are working day and night to achieve this. In this sense, we are supporting beekeeping in our province."

Stating that they are also concerned with the problems of beekeepers, Turan added, "We will increase our hive count, but along with that, we will also increase our bee population. This queen bee production and multiplication work will be carried out in our province based on scientific principles. In this context, we are providing 1,080 queen bee production complexes to our 52 producers with a 50 percent grant. If there is demand for this, we will continue to provide support in the same way."

Producer Veysi Tenekeci also expressed that such projects provide them with significant contributions, stating, "The most important task for producers like us is to produce healthy queen bees. Thanks to these hives, we will be able to both produce queen bees and provide support to the bees. These hives will make our work much easier in the applications we will carry out."
