Actor Sadri Alışık commemorated at his graveside
Cinema and theater actor Sadri Alışık was commemorated with a ceremony at his graveside on the 99th anniversary of his birth. The master actor's son, Kerem Alışık, said, "He was an artist who both experienced and made others experience both comedy and sorrow. In this time that has passed, I have understood that fathers are like walls; even if they are not seen, they touch their children."

The ceremony at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery was attended by Sadri Alışık's son, actor Kerem Alışık, and his grandson Sadri Alışık, as well as his friends and loved ones.
Following the ceremony, where the Quran was recited and prayers were offered, Kerem Alışık spoke to members of the press, expressing that his love and longing for his father had not ended despite the passing years.
'HE WAS A MAN WHOSE EYES SPOKE TURKISH'
Emphasizing that Sadri Alışık was a profound and striking artist, Alışık said, "Today is my father's birthday. We are both in the month of Ramadan and observing the Night of Power (Kadir Gecesi). It is very beautiful that we are holding this commemoration at such a time. Sadri Alışık was a man whose eyes spoke Turkish. He was as much of a vagabond as in his films, as naive as in his paintings, and as much of a philosopher as in his poems.
He was a person who reached people's hearts directly, without stopping at their minds. He was an artist who both experienced and made others experience both comedy and sorrow. In this time that has passed, I have understood that fathers are like walls; even if they are not seen, they touch their children. I would like to thank everyone again for coming here and not leaving us alone."
WHO IS SADRİ ALIŞIK?
Theater and cinema actor Sadri Alışık was born in Istanbul on April 5, 1925. Interested in theater during his childhood and taking part in school plays, Alışık continued to the Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts for a while after graduating from Istanbul High School.
Having tasted the stage as an amateur in 1939, Alışık took his first professional steps on stage 4 years later at the "Raşit Rıza Community Theater." In addition to the "Küçük Sahne" (Small Stage) directed by Muhsin Ertuğrul, Alışık took part in numerous plays at the "Karaca," "Site," "Çevre," "Oda," "Kent," and "Oraloğlu" theaters.
Taking his first step from theater to cinema in 1944 with the film "Günahsızlar" (The Innocent) directed by Faruk Kenç, the artist drew attention with his characters "Turist Ömer" (Tourist Ömer) with his crooked salute, and "Ofsayt Osman" (Offside Osman) who could never score a goal. In the hundreds of films he starred in, Alışık sometimes made the audience laugh and sometimes made them cry.
While Sadri Alışık brought to life characters who were poor but proud, cheerful and intelligent, gentle yet determined, the lines he used in his films became catchphrases for the audience. Alışık, who married actress Çolpan İlhan, sister of poet Attila İlhan, in 1959, had a son, Kerem, born in 1960.
The artist received the "Best Supporting Actor" award at the 1971 Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival for his role in "Afacan Küçük Serseri" (The Mischievous Little Vagabond). Alışık, who also won the "Best Actor" award at the 1994 Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival for his role in his final film, "Yengeç Sepeti" (Crab Basket) directed by Yavuz Özkan, passed away on March 18, 1995.
