Ilıcalı, who made statements regarding his business life, investments, and the allegations made about him, particularly drew attention on social media with his remarks about his economic situation.

Responding to the program host Arem Özgüç’s question, “Has Acun Ilıcalı gone bankrupt?”, Ilıcalı stated that his companies have made intensive investments during their growth process and that this brings borrowing with it.

''Our business is going very well, but we are a company that invests and grows; as we grow, there is constant borrowing. We bought a channel in Germany. We don't come from a super-rich family. It has been 20 years. They ask how I found the money in such a short time; I should have found it in 20 years by now. You watch me every day. We also face financial difficulties. What we call cash flow. Don't crises happen? The hotel burned down, and we all suffered. We didn't air commercials for a month. An earthquake happened. We didn't even look at the television for 4 months because we were mourning. We thought about our citizens. Since television is entertainment, the advertising sector fluctuates.''
