Berna Laçin's prosecutor statement: I want everyone to receive the punishment they deserve

The statement given by actress Berna Laçin as part of the "Ahbap Criminal Organization" investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has emerged.

"There was no question of trust or distrust in Haluk Levent as an individual"

In her statement, Berna Laçin said, "I have known the president of the Ahbap Association, Haluk Levent, by name for many years. However, I have not had any contact with him for about 20 years. I also do not have any contact with the aforementioned association's managers or members. During the earthquake disaster period, I tried to provide as much help as I could to the region. These aid activities were not in the form of cash, but rather by directly providing whatever was physically needed.

I was sending aid supplies through people I knew and was in contact with in the earthquake zones. I have sent aid to many institutions and associations working in the region during that period in this way. I did not send money in any way, nor did I suggest that anyone else send money. Indeed, I think that aid to be provided from the past to the present should be done in this manner.

The post I made on my Twitter account during the earthquake period belongs to me. In the content of this post, as I mentioned above, I stated that aid should be provided in terms of food, clothing, or similar needs because it was an association working in the region. I also expressed that people going to the region should enter in a competent and organized manner, otherwise they would be a hindrance to those working in the region. I also worked with many associations and companies to provide aid to the region.

Although the Ahbap Association was working in the region, it appeared as an association that carried out aid activities both on social media and on television. Indeed, I wanted to provide aid to the association because it acted together with public institutions, acted together with people who were managers in public institutions, and was even rewarded. However, there was no question of trust or distrust in Haluk Levent as an individual," she said.

Laçin testified, "In a post I made on February 10, 2023, I tweeted, 'Let us not live through the Keşanlı Ali epic again.' I made this post because I thought it would be dangerous for individuals to overshadow the institutions or associations they represent.

I think the aid collected for earthquake victims is very valuable.

I want everyone who obtained personal gain from these aids or used the aid for purposes other than intended to receive the punishment they deserve. This is all I have to say."
