Boycott message from Kalben to the band Muse: We will not be able to attend your concert

A boycott call was issued on social media against DBL Entertainment, a subsidiary of Dolmabahçe A.Ş., which is the Turkish organizer for the band Muse. Artist Kalben also tagged Muse's social media account, announcing that they would not be able to attend their June 11 concert due to the boycott.

The owner of Dolmabahçe A.Ş., Abdülkadir Özkan, had drawn significant backlash for his post on X calling CHP Chairman Özgür Özel a "traitor" following his call to boycott Espressolab, as well as for targeting the father of the imprisoned IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

Özkan had closed his account following the backlash.

Özkan had served as a press advisor for the Diyanet starting in 2010 and for the Ministry of National Education starting in 2014, and was appointed as a chief advisor to the Prime Minister in 2015.

CONCERT BOYCOTTED

Foreign music groups were coming to Turkey through Özkan's organization company. Boycott calls were shared for DBL Entertainment, a subsidiary of Dolmabahçe A.Ş. owned by Özkan, primarily by artists.

In this context, a boycott call was issued for the world-famous band Muse's concert on June 11, as well as for events organized by DBL Entertainment. Artist Kalben also tagged the Muse account on her X account to explain the situation.

Kalben wrote the following:

"I have been listening to your music for over 20 years, and you have inspired my music and my life in many ways. Unfortunately, I, all my friends, and the people I have worked with throughout my career will never be able to attend your concert in Istanbul because the organizer is on the boycott list of the pro-democracy movement. Please look into the news and take a step toward support and solidarity."
