Celal Şengör: Naci Görür's only concern is preparing Istanbul for an earthquake

Prof. Dr. Celal Şengör was a guest on Fatih Altaylı's 'Teke Tek Bilim' program on YouTube. Şengör's comments about Prof. Dr. Şener Üşümezsoy during the program became a hot topic.

Stating that journalists who ask Prof. Dr. Şener Üşümezsoy questions about earthquakes are "ignorant," Şengör said, "A journalist who asks Şener Üşümezsoy about earthquakes is ignorant. Does he have even one article published in a peer-reviewed journal regarding earthquakes? No. Why are you asking him?"

When Fatih Altaylı recalled Şener Üşümezsoy's words, saying, "I personally find it irresponsible that he constantly says 'don't worry, there won't be an earthquake'," Şengör replied, "That is an ignorant statement. Excuse me, you politely called it irresponsible, but this is pure ignorance. You look to see if the man has any work on the subject, and he doesn't. It's nonsense."
