The film 'Cem Karaca’nın Gözyaşları' (Tears of Cem Karaca), which will bring the life of artist Cem Karaca to the big screen by director Yüksel Aksu, is being discussed in the public eye. Cem Karaca's wife, İlkim Karaca, stated, "No permission was sought from me for this film. It saddened me to be ignored as his wife in an important film project telling Cem's life story. This situation would have also deeply wounded Cem. It is a good thing he did not witness this disloyalty."

The film Cem Karaca’nın Gözyaşları, which tells the life story of the legendary name of Anatolian rock music Cem Karaca, has begun its countdown to meet the audience.
Cem Karaca's wife İlkim Karaca announced that she did not give her consent regarding the film, which was directed by Yüksel Aksu and stars İsmail Hacıoğlu.
'IT UPSET ME TO BE IGNORED IN THIS PROJECT'
Stating, "I had to file a lawsuit because no permission was sought from me as a legal heir," İlkim Karaca continued her words as follows:
"We are already heirs as two people. My husband told me his whole life with all its reality and had me write it down. Those who know, know that we were a couple who got along very well, loved each other very much, and were very much in love. I was also Cem's manager. Along with being the closest witness to his last seven years, I know everything he went through, who he was offended by in the past and for what reasons, what he experienced, what he resented, and what he suffered for, personally from what he told me.
Therefore, it saddened me to be ignored as his wife in such an important film project telling Cem's life story. This situation would have also deeply wounded Cem. I think it is a good thing he did not witness this disloyalty. They wouldn't have even dared to do such things while Cem was alive. The most painful part is knowing this, to tell you the truth."
'I FIND IT DISRESPECTFUL AND DISLOYAL'
Responding to the question, "Is it ethical to make a film about a person after their passing?" Karaca said, "If it is done by obtaining permission from the legal heirs of the deceased person, why not? However, I do not find an approach that says, 'I did it and it's done, I don't recognize the laws, the justice system, and the legal heirs of the deceased' without seeking permission to be correct. In fact, I find such an approach disrespectful and disloyal."
Underlining that Cem Karaca had an impressive life story, Karaca stated, "I have a sensitivity toward the events being conveyed accurately. If it is going to be full of excessive fiction and incorrect narratives, it won't have any meaning anyway."
