A new name has been added to the series of harassment allegations that have recently come to the fore in the art world. Editor and filmmaker Fazilet Onat claimed that actor Cezmi Baskın harassed her in an elevator during the Ankara premiere of the film Bizum Hoca, in which he starred in 2014, and bothered her by phone throughout the night.
"THE ACCUSATIONS ARE UNTRUE"
Following the allegations that dominated the agenda, Cezmi Baskın issued a written statement on his social media account. The famous actor stated that the accusations in question were baseless and said the following:
"I am deeply saddened by the harassment claim that has been put forward. Such an incident absolutely did not take place. I do not know the person who made the claim. Furthermore, according to information I received from the film crew, this person was fired for excessive alcohol consumption and never attended the Ankara premiere. Therefore, she was not even there on the gala night when the harassment is alleged to have occurred."
"I AM EXPERIENCING A GREAT DEVASTATION"
Emphasizing that having his name associated with such a serious accusation has caused great devastation for himself and his family, Baskın used the following expressions:
"I have put effort into many projects for years, and the people I have worked with have witnessed my character. It is very painful for both me and my loved ones that my name has come up with such an allegation. This process has deeply wounded me."
"I AM INITIATING LEGAL PROCEEDINGS"
Stating that he will seek his rights following these events, the actor said, "I will make the necessary applications to the judicial authorities against these baseless allegations. I announce to the public that I will initiate the legal process as soon as possible."
