Sercan Eroğlu, a 33-year-old who lives in the Urla district of İzmir and runs a barbershop in the Balçova district, realized that he could not spend much time with his family due to the long distance between his home and his workplace.
Eroğlu, who bought a second-hand minibus to convert into a camper for family vacations, decided to turn the minibus into a workplace when the rent for his shop was also increased during that time.
After about 5 months of work, Eroğlu converted the minibus into a barbershop with solar panels, water tanks, a chair, a sink, a mirror, and other accessories, and began providing mobile service after obtaining the necessary permits.
Eroğlu, who has been serving his customers in the minibus for about 2 weeks, can also shave those who wish accompanied by forest and sea views.
'AN ENJOYABLE SYSTEM'
Sercan Eroğlu told an AA reporter that he has completed 23 years in the profession, which he started as an apprentice at the age of 10.
Expressing that he loves traveling with his family but could not spare much time for it due to his profession, Eroğlu explained that he made a radical decision because the time spent commuting to work every day was also too long.
Stating that he meets his electricity needs in his shop from solar panels and that the water in the tanks covers his daily needs, Eroğlu noted that his customers used to come to him, but now he goes to his customers.
Eroğlu continued as follows:
"I set days for my customers. I go to Balçova, Çeşme, and Urla. I do this job by traveling. If they want, by the seaside, if they want, in the mountains... I do the shaving while they light their barbecue and sit. So it has become a very enjoyable system for both me and my customers. There is a lot of demand, they are curious. People come and look inside the shop. We actually combined traveling with work. Because I was bored with the shop. You can't go anywhere in a shop. It has become more comfortable now that I go to them and give them appointments."
Stating that he plays nostalgic music in his vehicle and offers refreshments to his customers, Eroğlu said that he charges a travel fee for requests coming from routes far from Urla.
'WE GOT SHAVED BY THE SEASIDE'
Halil Özsoy, one of the mobile barber's customers, stated that he saw on social media that Eroğlu was working as a barber in his minibus.
Explaining that they met on the Urla coast for a haircut and shave after he made an appointment, Özsoy said, "We got our shave by the seaside. It was very different for me. It was truly a very unique experience."
