The lawsuit filed regarding the marriage of businessman İnan Kıraç (88), a prominent figure at Koç Holding, to Emine Alangoya on December 20, 2024, has concluded. Kıraç’s daughter, İpek Kıraç, had applied to the judiciary for the annulment of the marriage, claiming that her father “lacked the necessary actual capacity.”

At the heart of the case was the claim that İnan Kıraç did not possess the mental and legal capacity at the time of the marriage. In this context, it was decided that a report should be obtained from the Council of Forensic Medicine.

“KIRAÇ LACKS CAPACITY, A GUARDIAN MUST BE APPOINTED”

The prepared forensic report emphasized that İnan Kıraç did not have the necessary legal or actual capacity at the time of the marriage. The report also clearly stated that a guardian should be appointed for Kıraç.

Following this development, the Anatolian Civil Court of Peace appointed a temporary guardian for Kıraç. Subsequently, a ruling was issued in the case opened to determine a permanent guardian, and permanent guardians were appointed for Kıraç.

CONFIDENTIALITY ORDER FOR THE HEARING

The final hearing of the annulment case was held today at the Istanbul Anatolian 18th Family Court. While the lawyers for the parties were present, members of the press were not admitted to the hearing due to a confidentiality order previously issued by the judge.

During the hearing, the court announced its verdict, taking into account the Council of Forensic Medicine report and the decisions regarding the appointment of a guardian.

COURT: “THE MARRIAGE IS VOID”

The court ruled for the annulment of the marriage on the grounds that İnan Kıraç “did not possess legal and actual capacity” at the time of the marriage. In accordance with this decision, the marriage to Emine Alangoya was deemed legally invalid.
