Dams in Ankara sound the alarm
As the threat of drought increases due to global warming, the occupancy rate of dams in Ankara has been measured at 40.72 percent. ASKİ General Manager Memduh Aslan Akçay issued a call, saying, "In order to use our water resources efficiently, let us consume our water sparingly."

It has been reported that the active occupancy rate of the dams providing drinking and utility water to the capital has been measured at 40.72 percent.
In a written statement made by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration (ASKİ) General Directorate, it was stated that according to the measurements on June 2, the total amount of water in the dams was recorded as 757 million 520 thousand cubic meters.
In the statement, which noted that the occupancy of the dams is 50 million 850 thousand cubic meters more than last year, it was recorded that the total occupancy rate in the 10 dams providing drinking and utility water to the city was determined to be 47.78 percent, and the active occupancy rate was 40.72 percent.
The statement, which conveyed that ASKİ provided 1 million 576 thousand 141 cubic meters of water to its 2 million 595 thousand 323 subscribers on June 2, explained that an average of 237 liters of water is consumed per person daily in the city.
CALL FOR CONSERVATION
ASKİ General Manager Memduh Aslan Akçay, whose views were included in the statement, also reminded that water resources are limited in Ankara, as they are across the world.
Pointing to the importance of thrifty water use, Akçay stated the following:
"We have entered the summer months. Especially in the surrounding districts, water shortages are experienced at higher elevations due to the irrigation of land, vineyards, and gardens during the summer months. To prevent this, we ask our citizens to use our water sparingly."
