Dilan Polat’s first day at the Marmara Women's Closed Prison has emerged. Polat, who entered the prison yesterday morning, was taken to a temporary ward following processing.

After a while, Polat experienced blood pressure issues and was taken to the infirmary ward.

After intervention by medical staff, her blood pressure returned to normal, but her request to speak with her children on the phone was denied by prison management, who stated, ‘You do not have the necessary paperwork.’

It was learned that Polat instructed her lawyers to prepare the necessary documents so she could have a ten-minute video call with her children each week.

It was learned that video calls in prisons cost one lira per minute. The cost of the call is charged to the inmates.

Video call days in the prison are as follows:

Monday for the first part of wards A and C, Tuesday and Wednesday for ward B, Thursday for the second part of wards A and C, and Friday for the temporary ward and the infirmary ward.

Allegedly, Dilan Polat said, ‘I don't want my children to see me here. I don't want to be seen in a prison environment.’

When Polat will move to a regular ward has not yet been announced. However, according to prison procedures, an inmate entering the prison can stay in a temporary ward for up to one week.

The Polat couple will also be able to benefit from the open visitation period that begins today at the Marmara Women's Closed Prison and will continue until November 10.
