Dilan Polat's creams dumped in a honey forest home to 3,000 beehives

It has been alleged that a chemical substance in cream form belonging to the companies of Dilan Polat and Engin Polat, who were arrested and sent to prison as part of an operation launched on charges of money laundering, tax evasion, and illegal betting, was dumped between two villages in Lüleburgaz.

Following the operation launched against the couple Dilan Polat and Engin Polat at the beginning of November, the liquid cream dumped between two villages in Lüleburgaz has caused concern among the villagers.

Following the dumping of the liquid in the honey forest located between the villages of Lüleburgaz Eskitaşlı and Turgutbey, villagers filed applications with the Lüleburgaz District Governorate and the Gendarmerie Command on November 17.

THE ISSUE WAS TAKEN TO CİMER

According to the report in Hürriyet, citizens also took the issue to CİMER.

In the complaint petition submitted, it was stated: "We do not want the bees that feed on thyme in the forested area to be poisoned by nauseating chemical odors, nor do we want the environment to be polluted. If the waste is not removed immediately, it will pollute the groundwater and the nearby Tatarköy Pond. It must be removed urgently. We respectfully request that those who dumped it be caught and given the necessary punishment."

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

In the letter received from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry via CİMER, it was stated that it would be appropriate to report the matter to the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization.

In the response written by the District Gendarmerie Command, it was stated that an inspection was carried out by the team command, that the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization was also present during the inspection, and that a judicial investigation had been launched upon the instruction of the public prosecutor.

Turgutbey resident Kenan Gören said that there is an environmental team within the gendarmerie and that they also analyzed the liquid, but did not share the results with them.

'IT WAS REVEALED THAT THEY WERE BROUGHT FROM BULGARIA'

Explaining that they took samples to learn whether the liquid was hazardous waste and had it analyzed in a private laboratory, Gören said the following:

"As a result of the analysis, they said this liquid was a raw material for cream. In those days, Dilan Polat had been arrested and taken in for questioning. It had also been revealed that their creams were brought from Bulgaria. We suspect that these liquids dumped in our village are the raw materials brought from Bulgaria for them."

'WE ARE WORRIED ABOUT ANIMALS LICKING THE LIQUID'

Describing how truckloads of cream were dumped on the forested land near their villages, Gören said, "Shepherds saw the trucks leaving and informed the villagers. We filed a complaint in November, and we are still waiting for the waste to be removed. Eskitaşlı has 350 households and Turgutbey has 500. We make our living from agriculture, animal husbandry, and beekeeping.

Our bees are currently hibernating, but we are worried about this liquid leaking into our pond and our animals licking it. Our biggest concern is that it will mix into the Tatarköy Pond near where the creams were dumped, polluting our water and the fields we irrigate from here. Sunflower and wheat production is carried out in our village. In fact, some villages in the vicinity plant three crops a year," he said.
