Director İlker Canikligil arrested

Director İlker Canikligil has been arrested after being referred to the Criminal Court of Peace with a request for his detention on charges of "publicly inciting hatred and enmity" and "publicly inciting to commit a crime" due to remarks made in a video shared on his own YouTube channel and a post on X.

Director İlker Canikligil, who was taken into custody as part of an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station were completed.

An investigation had been launched against Canikligil due to a broadcast he made on YouTube in which he characterized a certain segment as an 'underclass' and called for 'Order 66' (mass extermination), as well as a post he made on his X account stating, "My friends, do not try to explain things to these people in vain. Political Islam should be ignored and gradually eliminated. There is no side to it that should be taken seriously, that is all."

Canikligil, who was taken into custody as part of the investigation, was referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station.
