Lesbian DJ Barbara Butch, who took part in the drag performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, has announced that she has been threatened with death, torture, and rape.

Butch, who posed in a scene from the 4-hour ceremony that was interpreted as a parody of Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper" fresco, stated that she will take legal action regarding becoming the target of social media trolls.

According to Christian belief, The Last Supper fresco depicts the final meal Jesus Christ shared with his apostles one day before he was arrested by Roman soldiers. The performance therefore drew significant backlash from Christians.

'I HAVE ALWAYS PROMOTED LOVE AND INCLUSIVITY'

"I have been the target of an extremely violent cyber-harassment and smear campaign," said Butch, adding, "Through my DJing and activism, I have always promoted love and inclusivity. For me, even when the world is falling apart, this is what will save it."

"At first, I decided not to speak out to let the haters calm down, but the messages I have been receiving are becoming increasingly extreme," Butch said, continuing her remarks as follows:

'I WILL FIGHT WITHOUT BLINKING'

"I have refused to be a victim my whole life: I will not be silent. I am not afraid of those who hide behind a screen or a pseudonym to spew their hatred and frustrations. I will fight them without blinking. I am determined and I am proud. I am proud of who I am, what I am, and what I represent, both for my loved ones and for millions of French people. My France is France!"
