The Beşiktaş Municipality will keep the name of the thinker, psychologist, and author Prof. Dr. Doğan Cüceloğlu, who passed away in 2021, alive at a park in the Akat neighborhood.
The park features a special display board containing Cüceloğlu’s biography, as well as his quotes and images aimed at children.
'WE STRIVE TO CARRY HIS NAME INTO THE FUTURE'
Speaking at the ceremony, Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat stated that they would continue to keep the values of Beşiktaş alive and continued his remarks as follows:
"He was a thinker, a psychologist, and an author; he actually had many identities. It is a great joy for us to keep the name of Doğan Cüceloğlu, who won the hearts of the Turkish people, alive here, and it will be a great opportunity for every child who comes here to see his photos and read his words.
If we had asked him, he probably would have said, 'Let my name live in a place where children play, smile, and spend their time all day long.' We are striving to keep the values of Beşiktaş alive, to live them, and to carry them into the future as much as we can."
'IT IS WONDERFUL TO COMMEMORATE HIM THIS WAY'
Prof. Dr. Doğan Cüceloğlu’s wife, Yıldız Cüceloğlu, expressed her feelings in her speech at the ceremony with these words:
"Together, we have brought my dear husband’s beautiful words and photos to children and their parents through this children’s park. It is wonderful to commemorate him in this way; thank you all, may you be well..."
