According to the report by journalist Birsen Altuntaş, production costs, actor fees, and the fees for screenwriters, directors, and technical crews have increased tenfold in the TV series market, just as they have in every other sector across the country.
Contrary to this situation, advertising rates have not increased at the same rate as they did in the past (the reason for this being the 120-minute duration of series and filming with two crews). This situation has caused more series to reach their finale, especially this year.
When series cannot cover their costs with the advertising revenue they generate during their broadcast hours, channels have begun to end series more quickly if there is no guarantee of international sales. All of this financial picture has affected preparations for summer series.
According to the latest news, ARC Film and D Media have also abandoned the summer series projects they planned to film this summer due to rising costs. Unless there is a new development, no summer series will be filmed this year.
On the other hand, it is predicted that the economic crisis will also reduce the number of series in the September season. It is being discussed that the practice of airing 7 series in 7 days will be lifted and that channels will broadcast fewer series.
